RAP/Jingle Contest – AAFES Community Connection
  • This contest will be released on Friday July 25, in store and on line and will be featured in the WK 39 tabloid.
  • Entries can be submitted online by sending to PatriotFamily@aafes.com or mailed with a DVD/CD to address information below.
  • Entries must be emailed or postmarked NLT Friday, October 3.
  • Judging will take place in late October with winners announced in November.
  • Entries will be submitted using original or approved music provided by AAFES (see above for links).
  • There will be 12 winners selected from entries- (one for each month)
  • Winning entries will be used on EXTV and ARN (AAFES TV and radio network), one for each month in 2009
  • The following prizes will be awarded: $500 shopping spree to top 12 rap/jingles

1. ELIGIBILITY: Open to all military and DoD card holders 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees or immediate family members of AAFES are not eligible.

2. CONTENT: Write and perform an original jingle or rap song for AAFES (up to 30 seconds in length) in English, using original non-copyrighted music or approved music provided by AAFES, on a DVD or CD that will play in a standard DVD/CD player or an electronic file (permitted formats listed in section three). The jingle and video must be family friendly. Entries can be submitted electronically or by mail. See below for submission guidelines.

Jingle theme must be about one the following:

Jingle may not include any explicit or vulgar language. Any jingle deemed offensive will be disqualified. Jingle must be no longer than 60 seconds in length.

3. HOW TO ENTER: Entry must be submitted via one of the following methods:

  • By Mail: Create a video or CD (up to 30 seconds in length) of you or your group (up to 5 total group members) performing your original jingle composition for AAFES, on a CD or DVD that will play in a standard CD players. Mail the CD or DVD along with a completed Official Entry Form (available to download and print at aafes.com) to:

Mailed entries must be postmarked no later than October 5, 2008.

  • By E-mail: Send to PatriotFamily@aafes.com . Add “AAFES Rap/Jingle Contest” into the subject line. All entries must be accompanied by a completed release form (available to download by clicking this link- entryform). Audio file types permitted include .MP3, .WMA, and .WAV. Video file types permitted include .AVI, .MOV, .WMV, and .MPG. Files that are not one of the permitted file types will be automatically disqualified. The file must be labeled with entrant’s name and contact information. PLEASE NOTE: If your file is larger than 5 Megabytes, it will be rejected by our server and will not be received.
  • By Electronic Upload: If your song or video file is larger than 5 Megabytes, it will be rejected by the e-mail server and will not be received. In this case, you can either send the file by postal mail, Audio file types permitted include .MP3, .WMA, and .WAV. Video file types permitted include .AVI, .MOV, .WMV, and .MPG. Files that are not one of the permitted file types will be automatically disqualified. The e-mail must include entrant’s name and contact information. E-mails must be received by October 5, 2008. Entries received without the Official Entry Form will be disqualified.

Music must be the original work of the entrant or group and not the work of a third party. Entries become the sole property of AAFES and will not be returned. Failure to comply with any entry requirements or any other Official Rule will result in disqualification.

4. FINALIST JUDGING: Judging will be based on the following criteria:

  • Style and Creativity
  • Suitability to be an AAFES official jingle
  • Overall Performance
  • Ability to tie-in with AAFES Community Connection, Value Story themes

AAFES reserves the right to disqualify any entry that, in their sole opinion, refers, depicts, or in any way reflects negatively upon AAFES, the promotion or any other person or entity.

5. PRIZES:

A Prize of a $500 shopping spree will be awarded to the top 12 rap/jingles.

6. GENERAL RULES: By entering, contestants consent to the use of their original entry as well as their name/likeness, to be available to the public online or in other media including but not limited to television, radio and magazines for publicity, advertising and promotional purposes without additional right of approval or compensation. Use of entry for any of the purposes previously stated does not in any way constitute Finalist or Winner status of that entry and should not be interpreted as such.
