SUBJECT: QA HAZARDOUS RECALL – The Consumer Product Safety Commission recalls Simplicity Brand Rainforest™ Play Yards with the Fisher-Price logo manufactured by Simplicity Inc.

DISTRIBUTION: WORLDWIDE

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling numerous styles of Simplicity Brand Drop Side Cribs manufactured by Simplicity Inc. due to an entrapment and suffocation safety risk.

Manufacturer: Simplicity Inc., of Reading, Pa.

Name of Product: Simplicity Brand Rainforest™ Play Yards with the Fisher-Price logo:

Model Numbers: 5310RNF, 5310RNFC, and 5310rnfw.  AAFES sold only model 5310RNF

Sold Between: January 2007 and January 2009

Manufactured in: China:

Hazard: One or more of the rails can collapse, posing a fall or entrapment hazard to young children.  CPSC is aware of over 1300 incidents regarding one or more rails collapsing.  As a result, children have fallen out of the play yard and sustained serious injuries which required medical treatment.  Some of these injuries include a concussion, a broken nose, a broken wrist, a cut which required stitches, and a chipped tooth.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the play yards immediately. Although it did not manufacture or sell the play yards, Fisher-Price has voluntarily agreed to assist consumers who own the products. Consumers who own one of the recalled play yards with the Fisher-Price logo should contact Fisher-Price to obtain assistance to replace their play yards. Contact Fisher-Price at (800) 432-5437 anytime or visit the Web site at http://www.service.mattel.com. Customers can also return the play yards to the nearest AAFES Main Store for a full refund.
